History
Dominoes Netball Club was established in 1997 and has gone from strength to strength. After beginning as a mixed netball team in the Reddish League, we are now a very successful club catering for a wide spectrum of players from players returning to the game, juniors, seniors and an elite squad.
Based at Wright Robinson Sports College in Gorton, Dominoes Senior Club boasts 6 teams in the Manchester Evening Netball League. This is a far cry from our humble beginnings in 1997 when only 2 teams competed in the League! Over the years, Dominoes Netball Club has come to dominate the MENL with 3 teams currently competing in the top 2 divisions.

In 2002 the club held its first tournament to coincide with Manchester’s Commonwealth Games. Over the years our tournament has become a firm fixture for teams as far and wide as Glasgow and London. The annual tournament is a hugely successful event and really reflects the spirit of Dominoes Netball Club. For more information please visit our tournament page.

In 2003 we launched Dominoes Junior Netball Club with over 40 girls turning up for the first training session. Dominoes Juniors caters for girls aged between 6 and 16 years of age with many girls progressing to become members of the senior squad. For more details please see our juniors page.
2006/07 was a brilliant season for Dominoes Netball Club all 5 teams were either winners or runners up in their league. And also in the past year we also entered the Open Regional League, and finished 3rd. Dominoes also took part in the Challenge Cup.
In 2007 the Senior part of the club moved from it’s home of Denmark Road in Moss Side to Wright Robinson College, (a £43m facility, the most expensive school or college ever built in Europe).
Two years ago (2008), Dominoes opened its doors to players of all abilities returning to netball. Our Back 2 Netball sessions run on a Wednesday evening with players being coached by members of the senior squad. We have had over 190 women attend these sessions over the past 2 years and have found some real talent along the way! Several players have graduated to the senior squad and we were delighted to enter a 6th senior team into the MENL league this year, largely made up of players from Back 2 Netball.
Dominoes Northern League squad is made up of senior squad players from the first and second teams. We compete in the Northern League against teams from across the North of England and Wales. This season (2009/10) has been our most successful and we look set to qualify for the National Play Offs to gain a place in National Premier League 3. This would be a huge achievement for the club and reflects the hard work of all the players and coach, Caswell Palmer. Last season, the squad reached the last 16 of the national Challenge Cup before narrowly losing to Premier League 1 side, Kent County.
Dominoes has had success in many areas and in 2008 was nominated for Club of the Year in Manchester. In the same year, former coach Lona Williams, was runner-up in the Coach of the Year competition.
In 2009/10 season the club had 6 teams playing in the Manchester Evening League. Dominoes 1st team won Division one, and the ‘new’ 6th team were made up of ‘back to netball’ members and Junior Dominoes Players.
Dominoes Netball Club is based on dedication, fair play and respect. We have come to pride ourselves and running a successful, welcoming club. Well done to all involved over the years and into the future. The story continues ... follow us on
